Post Draft Analysis: Yuck

Round1 17(17) Chad Greenway OLB IOWA (nothing exciting. decent value for the pick.)

Round2 16(48) Cedric Griffin CB TEXAS (my favorite pick...which isn't saying much.)

Round2 19(51)
Ryan Cook OC NEW MEXICO (I agree we need a back-up for Matt Birk. Don't think Cook was the way to go.)

Round2 32(64)
Tarvaris Jackson QB ALABAMA STATE (should have been Brodie Croyle.)

Round4 30(127)Ray Edwards DE PURDUE (great...another guy with character issues. good idea.)

Round5 17(149)Greg Blue S GEORGIA (Who?)

All of this to be followed by the firing of Personnel Director, Fran Foley. I guess there is nowhere to go but up.

Thanks for this command performance post-draft analysis. I agree with you that the firing of your personnel director soon after the draft is finished looks bad.

For the record, the high value on the board (according to draft guru Goose Gosselin) was: Florida State Antonio Cromartie in the first (he went 19th to San Diego); Auburn tackle Marcus McNeil in the second (he also went to San Diego, at 50); Miami tackle Eric Winston for the second second (he went to Houston at 66); and Ohio State corner Ashton Youboty with the third second (he went to Buffalo at 70). Brodie Croyle was the high QB on the board when Tarvaris was taken (he, again, went to San Diego--at 85), and Sooner center Chris Chester was the high center on the board when Ryan Cook was taken (Chester went to Baltimore at 56). Looks like San Diego got the draft the Vikings left on the board.

I have no opinions about any of these players but I always enjoy the passion all of you show for football.

Hi enigma code. Didn't Cedric Griffin break his arm in the Rose Bowl?

akid said...

I don't know if he did or not. Surely it's not still broken...but even if he lost his arm, he'd probably still make our team.

You betcha.
